As we reported earlier, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has hired former Ray Lewis attorney Ed Garland to help him in his new sexual assault case. Garland released a statement about the case earlier today stating his new rich client did nothing wrong and that they will fight the case 100 percent

The Post-Gazette reports that it appears that linebacker Larry Foote could be ready to rejoin the Steelers – if he wants to come back to the team he won a Super Bowl with: The Steelers are interested in bringing back one of their former players — inside linebacker Larry Foote — to improve their depth and create some flexibility at the linebacker position, the Post-Gazette has learned.

With free agent safety Ryan Clark likely to culminate a contract agreement with Miami later on today, Pittsburgh has proactively addressed their future need at the position by signing Will Allen (Buccaneers) to a three year deal this morning. Allen is by no means an upgrade over Clark, who established himself as a solid playmaker last season with the Steelers while All-Pro Troy Polamalu was recovering from a serious injury

Rhonda Cook and Bill Rankin of the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION report Monday morning that Ben Roethlisberger has hired the same Atlanta attorney who got Ray Lewis off on murder charges in the ATL in 2000.

For the second time in a year, Roethlisberger is being accused of sexual misconduct, with police investigating him Saturday for an alleged assault at a nightclub in a Georgia college town. Police were examining the claim of a 20-year-old student.

In this historic college town, the locals are dubbing the Thursday visit of star Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as the night “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” Interviews with a dozen students, bartenders and waitresses who saw women draped over him as he mugged for photos reveal a town that doesn’t like the taint of scandal — but remains divided over whether he did it.

So while the facts continue to get sorted out about the latest with QB Ben Roethlisberger, his agent is speaking out, of course defending his client about what went down in Georgia. “Last night, Ben and his friends met a group of women and everyone mingled together throughout the evening,” according to a release issued late this afternoon from Roethlisberger’s agent, Ryan Tollner. “We have spoken to law enforcement.

Hayden Lewis saw Roethlisberger at the Velvet Elvis bar and Capitol City.

Personally, I think the Bucs still owe the Steelers a little something, here. We certainly don’t know if Willie will end up in Tampa, but considering we let them have Lord Byron last offseason (in some sense), we just might be handing them Willie Parker this offseason, and they’re the ones responsible for Sean Mahan, I think it’s only fair that we get a little sugar in return
