Meaning that if another team wanted to sign him after free agency begins tonight at midnight, they’d have to put up a 2010 1st round draft pick in order to do so, and even if they do, the Steelers can match any offer another team makes and keep Colon all to themselves.I’ve heard from a number of sources (including his agent) that Colon is one of the more underrated offensive linemen in the league (despite the negative popular sentiment)

Steelers restricted free agent offensive tackle Willie Colon received the first-round tender, according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com. The veteran lineman is regarded as a valuable blocker. The Steelers obviously didn’t want to take any risks at potentially losing his services, Willie Colon played collegiately at Hofstra.
